The old Farm Home near the entrance of Mill House Place

History & Vision

Circa 1900, Ellis Armenius and Odella Craft Lineback began their homestead and family that in time numbered 11 children.  From a nearby stream, they relocated an aged mill house in which to live with a team of farm horses.  The mill house survives as a corner of their old white farm home that gradually grew in size with the family, and is the inspiration for the name Mill House Place.

Mill House Place is a creatively-planned, private and gated community of just 28 garden, village and estate homes on 28 historic in-town acres, overlooking an unexpected 15-acre lake. Home prices range from $450,000 to over $1,000,000, and the development has emerged like none other as a result of the commitment for timeless distinction and low density.

Mill House Place was developed by LA Property, owned by Lineback grandson Jerry Lineback and Garland Adams, a second generation home builder. A very select group of builders was chosen for the community, exclusively-marketed by Leonard Ryden Burr Real Estate. All companies are local firms with deep roots in Winston-Salem and outstanding reputations for excellence. Through their partnership and shared vision, Mill House Place will carry on the tradition of the land’s enduring beauty and peacefulness begun over a century ago.
